Greetings! Leo here from Orlando, Florida.

I am a Japanese American, born and raised in Southern California. Since I was young, I was guided by my sense of curiosity and optimism, which eventually lead me down various avenues of life. I have woken up for work in various settings, including primitive camp sites on a desolate island, doublewides in Alabama, and wooden cabins in Alaska. Eventually curiosity turned inwards, redirecting my attention from external exploration to internal development; specifically to become a skilled craftsman. Although it seems rather bizarre, I remind myself how one day a leaf eating caterpillar morphs into a butterfly. Perhaps I was always meant to be a trades person, consider the previous 3 generations before me were all various types of craftsmen.

There are surprising number of shear sharpening training programs out there, but I wanted to learn from the best. Letting my intuition be my guide, I met the right people, had the right conversations, and found myself walking across the red carpet into 2023 Premier Orlando. That’s where I was introduced to Mark, the founder and owner of Sensei shears.

Sensei is shear company that has been in the game since the 80’s. Not only did they have deep and involved history with shear design and production, they are also innovative trailblazers that actively pushes the shear industry forward. Rationally, I understood I had come to the right place. When I discovered their authority in the shear industry was supported by a genuine care for their clients, I knew my I had found my shear sharpening teacher. I also found it rather fitting that the company I chose to be trained by was called “Sensei”, or teacher in Japanese.

That is what I bring to the table. Impeccable craftsmanship, insider knowledge, and scrupulously honest service, all in the name of serving you. It feels amazing to have the opportunity to make someone’s day better and develop long lasting relationships. I am sure anyone in the hair industry can understand.
