Softcut Technology

From the depths of creativity, an idea bubbled up. A tool capable of creating beautiful wispy lines, framing faces like lapping waves along moonlit shores, somewhere in south east Asia. Characterized by its curved blades and highly polished edges, this unique blade geometry allows the hair to slip between the blades, performing its own slide cutting action as the blades close in without damaging the hair. The synergistic slide cutting effect happening between you and the shears results in softer, smoother touch to your motion cutting technique. The shear geometry was so innovative, Japanese factories backed out from production. Not only did Sensei find factories to produce these innovative shears, but these factories were equipped with more sophisticated machines and technologies, giving birth to Softcut Technology, a trailblazing blade geometry that offers unmatched softness and texture. Find the Sensei slide cutting shear that best suits your needs.

The birth of CMV alloy

At the time, VG10 had become the #1 metal of choice to create shears with. The blend of cobalt, molybdenum, and vanadium resulted in a chemically resistant, resilient metal, making VG10 a well rounded alloy to make shears with. However, just like the hair industry, the shear industry is also constantly improving. After creating the crane handle and the rotating thumb, Mark, the owner of Sensei, had established himself as a trailblazer of shear design. With this reputation, he was sought out by a factory to see if improvements could be made on the VG10. Taking advantage of the resilience of the metal, Mark increased the hardness, creating CMV, a metal capable of holding an even sharper edge than the VG10. In addition, he created the metal in brand new factories with more sophisticated furnaces and processes, resulting in fewer impurities with tighter grain structure compared to the VG10. From the warm glow of the high-tec furnaces, CMV was delivered. To give Mark the intellectual credit, the factory granted Sensei Shear Systems a 10 year exclusive to the new CMV formula.

Rolling out with an unrecognizable design with a brand new exclusive metal, the ToughBlade deserves the proper features that makes Sensei shear stand out. The shears pivot on a ball bearing suspension system, mechanically reducing friction with every cut. Scissor resistance has also been reduced by the wide polymer inlay, making every cut effortlessly glide while extending the overall life span of the shears. Sensei demonstrates their confidence in the new CMV metal by by extending their 1 year edge warranty to a 3 year edge warranty, on top of the life time warranty all Sensei shears are held by.
